We encourage you to spend some time with God this week and go a bit deeper on this topic. Please consider these study questions for further reflection:
Question 1
Money is continually discussed in the bible because of how much it can control our thoughts and actions. As we grow in our relationship with God, we want to grow in our trust in him as well. How does giving back part of the blessing God has given us show our faith in him?
Question 2
While tithing (giving a tenth of what we receive) is an Old Testament concept, and Jesus fulfilled the law the law on our behalf, we are stilled called to be gracious givers and give cheerfully. Why do you think God wants us to have a joyful heart when we give?
Question 3
In Matthew 6:21, Jesus says that where we spend our money, or place our treasures, shows the true desires of our hearts. If you look at your finances, what do they say really matters to you? Are you happy with what you see? What would you change and what's stopping you from making that change?
