Peace

Speaker:
Series:
Passage: Luke 3:1-17, Isaiah 9:6
Service Type:

The arrival of Jesus is the answer to our deepest longings in life – joy, hope, peace, and love. God’s gift to us is the presence of these four things through the life of Jesus. We can celebrate Jesus’s arrival, and eventual return, by considering the ways in which Jesus provides a way for a deep, personal relationship with our Creator. Join us this Advent season as we celebrate the greatest gift we’ve ever received – Jesus Christ!

We would like to stay connected to you!

We encourage you to spend some time with God this week and go a bit deeper on this topic. For this series we are using some resources from Bible.com and The BibleProject in addition to some questions from our preaching team. Please consider using these for further reflection!

Scripture to explore:

Isaiah 9:2, 6-7
Luke 3:1-17
Ephesians 2:14-15
Colossians 1:19-20

Questions to ask:

  1. How do you tend to seek peace and what are you pursuing at those times? How does that compare with God’s definition of peace (completeness, soundness, welfare, undisturbedness)?

  2. Does it strengthen your peace to remember that your ultimate okayness was secured by a particular Jewish man, in a particular point in history, in a particular part of the world? Why or why not?

  3. How does remembering the advent (birth and second coming) of Jesus help to give you peace?
