It’s What You Want

Service Type:

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13

It’s clear from Scripture that God desires unity for His Church. Unity is what Jesus prays for, what He commands, and what He says will be the chief argument for unbelieving people coming to know God. But if unity is that important to the heart of God, and that critical to the mission of the church, then why isn’t it something the Church fiercely fights for and passionately pursues? -from Until Unity

Join us on Sundays as we take a a closer look at the Biblical idea of unity within the church with our new sermon series Until Unity based on the scriptures and teachings from the book Until Unity by Francis Chan.

We encourage you to spend some time with God this week, dive into the Bible, and go a bit deeper on this topic. Please consider these study questions for further reflection:

Question 1
How does the idea that the Spirit has unity with your soul impact your view of what your life’s purpose is?

Question 2
What are some ways that we see divisions among Christians? What is the difference between disagreeing and being divisive? Why is one okay and one isn't?

Question 3
Pray about the people in your life with whom you don’t feel unity. Consider reaching out to one of those people to talk it through. If your soul is in unity with God, then what does God want for his children?

Additional Scripture to study: Acts 2:42-47, John 17:20-23, John 16:7, John 14:26, Titus 3:4-7, Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:14-16, Galatians 4:6-7, Galatians 5:22-23, Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 John (It takes about 10 minutes to read the entire book)
