It Comes With Maturity
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13
It’s clear from Scripture that God desires unity for His Church. Unity is what Jesus prays for, what He commands, and what He says will be the chief argument for unbelieving people coming to know God. But if unity is that important to the heart of God, and that critical to the mission of the church, then why isn’t it something the Church fiercely fights for and passionately pursues? -from Until Unity
Join us on Sundays as we take a a closer look at the Biblical idea of unity within the church with our new sermon series Until Unity based on the scriptures and teachings from the book Until Unity by Francis Chan.

We encourage you to spend some time with God this week, dive into the Bible, and go a bit deeper on this topic. Please consider these study questions for further reflection:
Question 1
We looked at some marks of maturity this morning – inner traits (faith, goodness, knowledge, self control, godliness, mutual affection, and love,) controlling the tongue (speaking the truth in love, avoiding foolish arguments,) serving, and keeping an eternal perspective. Among these, which challenge you? Are there any particular circumstances that bring the challenge? Can you modify those circumstances?
Question 2
Unity and maturity have a bit of a symbiotic relationship. How do you see unity and maturity connecting in your own life?
Question 3
Ephesians chapter 4 was our springboard today. Read through it, and use it to guide a time of prayer.
Additional Scripture to study: Ephesians 4, James 3, 1 Peter 4
