Holy Mediator

Passage: Exodus 19-20
Service Type:

Moses is a person that seems larger than life – his accomplishments, leadership, power, and prestige. When we read about him, we often focus on his triumphs. But we can also see his weakness and failures. Moses often doubted his ability to know what to do in the midst of the storm, but he trusted God to lead him. Join us as we look at the life of one of the greatest figures in the Old Testament in our new sermon series Moses: Following God Into the Unknown.

We encourage you to spend some time with God this week and go a bit deeper on this topic. Please consider these study questions for further reflection:

1. God gave Moses the Law (the Ten Commandments) as a condition of his blessing. Test yourself: Read Exodus 20 and ask yourself how well you have kept the Ten Commandments.

2. How does Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:21-28), change the way we look at the Ten Commandments? Is that good news or bad news to you?

3. In what way is Jesus' finished work the final remedy for the bad news the Law gives us? Read Galatians 3:10-13 as you think about this.

Additional Scripture to explore: John 5:45, Matthew 5:17, Hebrews 12:18-24
