Worth Everything

Speaker:
Service Type:

Jesus used parables all the time. They were simple stories people could understand, used to illustrate lessons Jesus wanted us to learn. Sometimes they seem straight forward, sometimes they seem mysterious. But they always give a better glimpse of who we are in Christ and what it means to live in His Kingdom. Join us as we look at some of the parables God gave, and what they continue to mean for us today, in our new teaching series Kingdom Parables

We encourage you to spend some time with God this week, dive into the Bible, and go a bit deeper on this topic. Please consider these study questions for further reflection:

Question 1
Read Matthew 13:44-46. Jesus is speaking about how much of a treasure the Kingdom of Heaven is. There are 2 popular interpretations of this passage. The first is that the man in the field and the pearl merchant represent Jesus. He gave everything to purchase us. What does that mean to you? (read 2 For. 8:9; 1 Peter 1:18; Deuteronomy 14:2)

Question 2
A second interpretation is that the man in the field and the pearl merchant represents us. The treasure is the kingdom of heaven, and when it is revealed to us, it is worth everything. Think of all that comes with the kingdom of heaven that makes is so valuable. (no condemnation, forgiveness of sin, abundant life, eternal life in heaven, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, etc. )

Question 3
Although all these things are wonderful, there is something that is the most valuable about being in the kingdom of heaven - that is knowing the King himself! Knowing Jesus is the treasure and the prized pearl of great price. What is Jesus worth to you? (Read Philippians 3:7-9; Matthew:19:29) Is there anything you wouldn't give to know him and to be in his kingdom?

Take time to pray and ask the Lord to reveal to you anything that may be in the way of receiving and knowing him.
