Forgive Them

Speaker:
Passage: Luke 23:32-38
Service Type:

Jesus suffered and died on the cross. Most of us know the story. But it is the words he said while nailed there that show his desire for our lives. Each time he spoke he revealed his heart and his love for us, his creation. Join us this Lenten season as we discover God’s heart for his people in our new preaching series Words from the Cross.

Study Questions

  1. In Exodus 34:6-7 God describes His own character. When is it easiest to believe that God is full of mercy and forgiveness? When is it hardest to believe? How can we reconcile His mercy with His justice?
  2. Luke 7:36-50 in one of many examples of Jesus bestowing forgiveness on others. What stands out to you in this story? Who do you identify with?
  3. Jesus was lifted up on the cross in order to lift up our sin. But forgiveness is not automatic - we have to make a choice to receive it. Take time to confess (agree with God) about your sin. Name it specifically, and claim His forgiveness. Now live in the freedom that your sin is no longer chained to you!
